Priorities

Your priorities while on your shift are as follows:

  1. Equipment check-out and check-in. Whenever equipment comes in or goes out, stop whatever you're doing and go through the whole process of check-out or check-in. Be sure to check the bags for accessories and parts, and to make sure everything is the same number as the reservation. I know it's easier to say, "Leave it on the desk," or, "Just take it and I'll enter it after you leave," but it's imperative you do not get in the habit of doing this. Equipment check-out and check-in are your first priority in every situation.

  2. Helping students set up in the studio. Students who have the studio / green screen reserved take precedent over students working in the editing lab. Help them get set up for their video shoot. You are not responsible for operating the camera or the teleprompter for students in the studio. You can if you want to, but it is not your duty; you are welcome to tell students that we don't help with their projects due to how we define our DIY instructional mission, and that they can ask a staff member for more explanation if they need it.

  3. Answering questions in the editing lab. Answer questions about software as you're able.

As always, feel free to ask for help if you're overwhelmed with requests.
