Learning Design & Technology maintains a stock of video and audio equipment that is available for checkout. Some of this equipment is available for the whole College of Arts & Sciences, some of it is only available for Media Studies students.
Reserving Equipment
Our equipment may be reserved online at https://ldtreservations.as.virginia.edu. You will need to sign in with your Netbadge login.
Media Studies-Only Equipment
If you are a Media Studies student, or in a Media Studies class, and would like to gain access to the Media Studies-only equipment, you need to have your current Media Studies professor or adviser email [email protected], and have them CC you on the email.
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about Equipment
What should I reserve?
Our most common request is for video cameras to record lectures and classes. The best equipment for this is the Zoom Q4 camera. It comes with a small tripod that you can set up on a desk or table, or you can reserve a larger tripod independently.
Why can't I reserve certain equipment?
Some equipment is only available to instructors, other equipment is only available to Media Studies students. Certain items require training before use. If you believe you should be able to reserve a piece of equipment, or would like to find out how, please email [email protected].
I reserved equipment, but need to change my reservation time / day; how do I do this?
You will receive a confirmation email when you reserve equipment. There will be a link in that email that allows you to edit your equipment booking.
